Today is the day American poker players have
dreaded for weeks now. President Bush has
made it official by signing into law the
"Illegal Internet Gambling Act" Taking swift
action, Party Poker, the largest online
poker room, has pulled the plug on American
players. As expected other large poker rooms
have followed suite. Pacific Poker, Titan
Poker and some others have also bailed out
on Americans. For those of us that have
followed this act from Congress to Senate
and all the way to the President's desk were
not surprised about the actions of these
poker rooms. This has been in the making for
a few weeks.
So what now?
What do American Poker players do now that
Party Poker wont let us play real money
games? The bottom line of this act does not
make poker illegal and it does not make
playing poker a crime.
It will make it harder for us to transact
with these online poker rooms, but
will not make you a criminal. So, all we
need to do is find another poker room.
Other major players in the Poker industry
such as:
Full Tilt Poker,
Poker.com and
Doyles Room Poker
to name a few
have
stated they will continue to allow U.S.
players and some are even going as far as to
offer special bonuses for American players.
The best thing we as Americans can do is to
keep playing poker online. Online merchant
transacting companies including Neteller are
still allowing transfers to the poker rooms
that allow U.S. players. So really this act
has done very little to limit online gaming
as most transactions with online gambling
sites were through Neteller before this law
took affect.
