How did Michael get his start in Poker?
Michael has a twin brother, Eric, but it was actually his older brother Robert, who got him interested in poker because of his successful online playing. Though Michael originally thought of becoming a doctor, his success at the game convinced him to drop out of college in order to pursue poker full-time.
When Michael branched into tournament play, he enjoyed immediate success and quickly earned the nickname "The Grinder" because his playing was so consistent and he could work his way through game after game. His fast rise to fame has left many others wishing they could "grind" through tournaments the same way he can.
What's his story?
Michael Mizrachi (a.k.a. The Grinder) was born on January 5th, 1981. He has a fraternal twin called Eric and two other brothers, Robert (the oldest) and Daniel (the youngest). They grew up in North Miami Beach and then moved to Hollywood, Florida.
And when he's away from the Poker Table?
Michael resides in Florida with his wife Aidiliy, his son Paul William and his daughter Julie Malka. He also has a place in Las Vegas and spends a lot of his time traveling the tournament circuit always keeping his family close by.
What is The Grinder best known for?
His high quality of play and his ability to grind through tournaments. This has all led to his fast rise to the number one position. Michael is also well know for his ability to track where he is in the game and what hands other people are likely to have as a result.
How does Michael think about on-line poker
The Grinder got his start in poker playing online and says that this really helped him to prepare for live play. One of the main benefits he cites is the wide variety of players it exposed him to early on. This, he says, forced him to adjust to many different styles of play - which obviously makes it harder to play against him. Michael also feels that the volume of play online is beneficial saying that when you play online you get dealt on average four times as many hands as you do in live games which keeps you on your toes.
